Mathilda is a kangaroo villager from the Animal Crossing franchise who appears in every game to date. Her name may come from the famous Australian song called "Waltzing Matilda," which shares this trait with another kangaroo villager, Walt.
In New Horizons, Mathilda has the fitness hobby, and she wears sporty shades and lifts heavy dumbbells while exercising.
Appearance
[edit | edit source]Mathilda is a black kangaroo. She has a black body, purple inside her ears, purple tips on her hands, white feet, a purple mouth, a black ringed with white tail, and yellow and red eyes. She and her joey look angry most of the time.
Personality
[edit | edit source]Mathilda has the snooty personality, which means she loves makeup and gossip. Mathilda will initially be rude and arrogant towards the player, often talking about herself and her own experiences. She will also talk about the style and appearance of other villagers, usually normal, peppy, and other snooty villagers. She will soon warm up to the player, confiding in them about her feelings but remaining subtly rude. Mathilda doesn't get along with lazy villagers because they don't care about their appearance or because they dislike what she eats, and she doesn't get along with jock villagers because they will question her about her physical appearance and don't care about fashion. However, she will get along with cranky villagers due to their similar rude personalities.
House
[edit | edit source]Mathilda's house in Animal Crossing has furniture includes Slot machines, the tartan rug, and more. Her house has many slot machines and she has one pool table. She has not changed her house style in most of the Animal Crossing (franchise) games. Mathilda usually likes new furniture in her house. If she gains a stereo it will play K.K. Ragtime. She has the red tile floor and two shirts. They are the red check shirt and the check shirt, she also has a dart board.
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, her house is completely different. It no longer has the slot machines and her house now has a more contemporary look. She owns a TV, a Plant, two shirts. Mathilda's house now has the Concrete Wall, while keeping the Red Tile Floor from previous games. She also owns a Stereo which plays K.K. Ragtime.
In New Horizons, Mathilda’s house is much darker and gloomier than before. Most of her furniture is black, with the exception of the southeast corner, which features children's toys - presumably for her joey. She has a phonograph playing K.K. Chorale.
