Mathilda is a kangaroo villager from the Animal Crossing franchise who appears in every game to date. Her name may come from the famous Australian song called "Waltzing Matilda," which shares this trait with another kangaroo villager, Walt.
In New Horizons, Mathilda has the fitness hobby, and she wears sporty shades and lifts heavy dumbbells while exercising.
Appearance
Mathilda has a unique and curious appearance. Unlike most brown kangaroos, she has black fur. To complement this, her mouth, ears, and small areas around her wrists and ankles are colored a dark purple. Her initial outfit contrasts with this dark theme with a dazzling white, featuring a small red design in the center. Finally, something that is sometimes overlooked, Mathilda has a baby in her pouch, just like other kangaroos in the game. This little joey matches Mathilda's appearance, and only its head is visible.
Personality
Mathilda has the snooty personality, which means she loves makeup and gossip. Mathilda will initially be rude and arrogant towards the player, often talking about herself and her own experiences. She will also talk about the style and appearance of other villagers, usually normal, peppy, and other snooty villagers. She will soon warm up to the player, confiding in them about her feelings but remaining subtly rude. Mathilda doesn't get along with lazy villagers because they don't care about their appearance or because they dislike what she eats, and she doesn't get along with jock villagers because they will question her about her physical appearance and don't care about fashion. However, she will get along with cranky villagers due to their similar rude personalities.
