A high-speed rail line from Madrid to Seville has been in operation since 1992, and it will gradually be extended to the rest of the country. The national airline is Iberia, which operates domestic and international flights. The merchant fleet includes approximately 500 ships with a total gross registered tonnage of 18.5 million tons. Major ports include Vigo, Malaga, Huelva, Algeciras, Cadiz, Cartagena, and La Coruña. The flagship airline, Iberia, is one of Europe's oldest and has its hub at Madrid–Barajas Airport. In 2010, it merged with British Airways.
